urgent help!! odometer stopped working!!
odometer on speedo head stopped working on way home last night. speedo is still working fine but odometer and trip meter both stopped . dont want to use G again until it is sorted out. likliest places to look / faults ? if its easier to get a new/secondhand one is it fairly easy to change the mileage on the replacement one to match existing one ? (no clocking jokes please!! :lol: ) cheers elvis
normally the cable goes which makes them jump or stop but the complete unit, sounds like something is broken on the odometer side .
I used this company in Surrey for my old S Type Jag otherwise wait until one comes up from the club or ebay.

Mine stopped wworking 5 years ago, keeps the mileage down.
rebuilt (nearly) myself!! after spending all day on phone have spent $30 on a part from the usa!! the (few) uk outfits that had the part i needed were unwilling to sell me the part but would willingly recon it for silly money! god bless the british retail industry!!
post the details of where you got the part, a few of us will need it sooner or later.
and perhaps a little about the process of rebuilding you went through? help us build up the KB (knowledgebase)
no worries- will post pics when i get part!! an umpteen £ recon has so far taken me 3 mins to remove cover and see the fault!! another 5 seconds to remove offending part!!
Any update... my trip meter has been intermittent for a while too, together with (I think) the milometer itself, although the speedo indicator is working fine...so the cable cannot have gotten 'rounded' off...must be an internal cog which needs replacing. I would like to order the part from the US also.
Which reminds me...I once purchased a whole G Exhaust system from the US - shipped from Germany, hand carried back (I even paid some VAT!) and still half the price of getting it locally.

Any clues on the fix to your odometer. Mines just died too. Yes it keeps the mileage down but, given how crap the GWagen fuel gauge is, it's a bit scary if you're relying on the fuel light to come on to tell you its time for a refill. I fin I need to keep a check on the mileage. Speedo fine so it sounds like a simialr problem to yours. What was the supplier in the U.S. that you used?

until you need to make a claim on a limited mileage insurance poilicy and they refuse to pay you out......................
obviously the cable is intact , jusy wanted to see if there were any plastic cogs etc that are notorious for wearing out etc. speedy are 4 miles down the road in ystrad
