Hello all........ 1989 300 gds. My passenger window does not work. When activated the motor buzzes slightly and gets warm. I guess it needs replacing. I have removed the two securing screws but how do I get the thing out? Thanks Vic b

Re: window motor removal

motor plus mechanism are effectively one unit, 6 bolts to take all out.take glass out then motor/mechanism.
if you need one i think i have a pass side motor/mech brand new, give me an email on mark@vulturetrading.co.uk.

Is it feasible to replce wind-ups with electric motors in a 463?

Re: window motor removal

I always assumed the 463 had "electric windows" all round as standard, so presume installing them would be fairly straightforward, if a bit expensive when doing all four.

Re: window motor removal

Front electric windows were optional in all GWagens until the mid nineties and after for all W461 models.

Rear electric windows continue to be optional for most Gs, even today.

There is an italian kit to convert windows for manual to electric. While not in the same league as the original, it apparently provides good value for money. I don't know the manufacturer but they appear from time to time on German Ebay
