My 300 GTD has infra red remote central locking and as such the drivers door has no manual external lock. The remote is activating as the green and red lights on the rear view mirror flash, but the locks are not working properly. You can hear all three actuators clicking as the remote is pressed but they dont seem to have enough power to lock or unlock.I have stripped out the doors and all three actuators appear ok.lock mechanisms all free and all wiring ok.I can only guess at a possible solenoid failure but where the hell is the solenoid.MB UK. dont know and dont care, does anyone have a clue. :( :( :( :(

Re: Central locking problems

Can you not run a temp supply straight from the battery, after disconnecting the wires from one of the lock solinods/actuators and see what happens, I take it you mean the relay for to switch the heavy current for the lock actuators ( when you refer to solinod ), dont know nowt about them or their works, it appears the relay is still functioning, though you appear to suspect it is not passing the necessary current required to "throw" the lock actuators properly.

Re: Central locking problems

Ere whats going on MR Forum moderator, the two messages as above were as a result of ( on my first posting ) me getting a message that I could not post a message so soon after my last/previous posting ( when there had not been a last/previous ) and then a few seconds later I tried again and it was accepted , except it had also been accepted the previous ( first ) time as well despite the message to the contrary. I got the same message last night on my second ? posting and thought it odd.
PS
Ian keep your head down, that first pint of real ale ( from a can ? ) slid down powerful well. hic :

Re: Central locking problems

Thanks hic* Marcus I think that its the solenoid because that will be actuated by the pulse from the remote and distribute current to all three lock units, but its only a guess. All suggestions gratefully accepted.Bruce
