Hi, I am hoping someone can help.
The front passenger door and rear tailgate central locking motors are currently not working correctly on my 1987 300GD. They open fine but will not lock, you have to do this manually. Even when trying to close manually it seems like the motors are stuck in the open position as it does take some force to manually push down to the lock posisiton.

I am assuming it is the motors which are faulty, went the Mercedes Garage and they want £75 for each motor! Does anyone know if generic ones will fit? Is the wiring easy? The original motors have 4 wires coming out then going into a connector block. Does anyone know of any where I can get these motors?

PLEASE HELP, its annoying especially in the rain when you have to go round making sure the doors are locked!

Re: Central Locking

Manin,
This issue has been discussed before try "searching" .
But yes to my knowledge these are "generic" as I found that mine off a 461=460? were the same as off an early 1990's citroen BX, so take it to your motor factors, they should recognise.
Good luck
Marcus

Re: Central Locking

Hi Marcus.
Thanks for your reply.

I have to admit that I did try using the search feature, however you get so many results unrelated to the topic that you may as well just spend your time reading through all the posts, such is the result of the search. I have also tried being more specific, but still the same results.

However thanks for the reply and advise.

Re: Central Locking

My 89 had problems with the central locking and when I took the drivers door cover off it showed that the original lock motor was replaced with a generic type. It looked like there was a small amount of modification with bent rods to get it to fit but it worked after cleaning the connection plugs. The drivers side has a master motor and the others are slaves. You can get a complete set of motors and a wireless remote very cheaply on ebay – about £ 30.

Try taking the motors out and cleaning all the connections – the motors can get a lot of moisture in the doors. With the door covers off try moving the operating rods and you should be able to see what the problem is.
