Fan and Speedo
Hi,
I the fan rattling a common problem. I understand it's a big job to replace, but can it be dissmantled to repair? Also, where can I get a MPH speedo, and is it really worth it or should I just put stickers on the dial like my grey import VFR motorbike?

Without knowing the model and year of your GWagen it is simply impossible to give any worthy advice. Please fill in your profile and you will make everybody's life easier.
Aha! from a different post I see that you own a 1987 280GE SWB.
Well this does not relieve you from entering the car you own in your profile!
The speedo should be really easy to source from any of the numerous UK-spec GWagens being broken for spares in this forum or elsewhere.
As for the fan rattling I guess that you are referring to the heating fan and not the engine fan. Yes it is a dog to replace (all the dashboard must go) and the part is not cheap either. I would personally let it die before attempting to replace it.
I have just stripped all mine out so it is fresh in my mind if you want some info its best to pm or email me for a complete rundown
On the helpful side I have one in my 1987 that is running ok and does nt seem too noisy but have been offered a more powerful one if it come off mine will be available and Il swap it for your KLM speedo.
Alternatively I understand the merc 308 vans have the same fan.

Camping site nearby run by a vietnamise x french harleys hells angel rocker a lovely guy mind called dominique i also have plenty of land if you wanna stick up a tent for free I am having a G weekend if you interested see events post for french trip

Fair point...done. I didn't do when I first signed up as I was looking for a G...but now I have one :D
