hello,

sadly my car was broken into last night and even though it isnt my g, (the lowly 306 that i have to use instead now) im stll very angry and upset. they stole my gps from under the seat!

what i would like to ask is, before they smashed my window, they tried to break my drivers door lock, its damaged and pushed in, and even though the key still fits i think due to it being pushed in it will not lock etc.

does anyone know the cost of getting the lock fixed, as if i claim on the unsurance there is an excess of £370+ so i am hoping it is less than that to fix

any help would be very appreciated

Tom

p.s have the g months nop one even tries to break into it, have this 306 for a week and this happens, shows the image the g has really

what a sunday morning spoiler! i hope he gets lost with the gps...
on the locks business, i'm sorry i can't help you locally, but you might find that the yellow pages is your best bet, look under locksmiths and phone a few up to get quotations of hourly rates and response time, and go from there.

Re: INSTANT HELP

Rotten luck!

The door handle is from many MB vans as well and does not look that expensive. It’s shown on the epc as A 670 760 01 59 with key 42.21 euros in Germany and A 381 760 06 59 less key 72.35 euros. Odd that is shows cheaper without key. It can be ordered with the same lock as was fitted to the truck originally from the VIN .But either way its not megabucks.
The actual locking mechanism inside the door is pretty basic and easy to dismantle so should be pretty easy to take apart and play with. To take the door handle off you need to remove the panel on the inside of the door and there is one bolt to the front of the handle and the other is on the frame by the catch mechanism.

I guess the biggest expense will be if you need dents removing and paintwork.

Ernest I always admire your quick responses with detailed info (no doubt helped by your familiarity with WIS and EPC, one day I must get me hands on similar if possible!)...but I think he was talking about the Pug 306...not the G :)

Re: INSTANT HELP

thanks for the help, and ernest, if it was the g i would be very sorted now.

if it was a land rover they wouldnt have had to break the glass, several open hand slaps on the bonnet and they could have taken the whole thing away in boxes!

window has been done by the rac, but the lock is still duff, im doing the swarve looking lock from the inside and slide movement now!
