I have an 1987 280GES with 112k on the clock, when should I get the cam chain checked / changed?

As far as I am aware the timing chain on the 110 engine is not as weak as on the 5 litre v8s and doesn’t require changing at around 100k miles. If it’s not noisy then you should be ok. The valve gear on the 110, however, can be noisy as the valve clearances can get way off if they haven’t been adjusted in a while. I would set them up fist and take it from there.
