What should I look out for when buying a 463 lwb diesel auto matic with 200k+ miles on?

Are most of the problems age related, or are the mileage ones?

I would imagine that the drivers seat will be worn out. Is it possible to get a new cloth cover, or is it likely that that the seat srings themselves will be shot?

Any advice is welcome!

thanks

Re: high mileage diesels

Mine has just clocked up 200 000 miles and still runs as well as new. If there is paperwork demonstrating regular oil changes then that is a big pluss. If its got that then the engine should be good, w/out it there is a bigger risk. Similarly g/box oil should have been changed.
Take it for a drive, there should be no smoke at high revs nor at over run. The g/box should change smoothly up and down. Don't forget to move it into low and give it a run for a few hundred metres.
Otherwise its all the same as any old vehicle, general condition and visual checks all over. No oil leaks, exhaust will be on its last legs now so check that .interior should all be original and no missing bits.
Good luck. Do you know the MB specialist in Boston, Spilsby road garage, he will give you a check over.
