I want to remove the bull bars on a 1998 463. It has a chrome set of bars with two black upright nudge sections. After undoing a few 19mm bolts I realised its a little more complicated than thought.

Do the bars separate from the brackets? If so, how???

Do I need to remove the bumper?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

hi just fitted a set recently bullbars remove from bracket by using supplied key to drop foreward bullbar and slide off to the right, access to bolts behind bumper brackets gained by removing factory fog lights you can download pdf file from ANTEC the manufacturers on instalation just reverse the process ps dont forget that after removal you will have drilled holes in your bumper. GGGGGood luck

capolongo, the pdf states the use of loctite (i assume glue?) on the hinges, did you do that, and any idea what that was for!?
i thought there was a small pin that held the thing in place (and prevented it from sliding out when open)

The loctite is to prevent the hinge from unscrewing itself from the other half held to the bumper. It should not be a problem if you, as Capolongo states use the special key (listed as ref 005025.1 in the diagram) to undo the bolts (005010) and then drop foreward bullbar and slide off to the right.
