Hi,
I have aquired a diesel engine from a 300gd inc all ancilliareis except the engine mounts, please can anyone tell me what mounts i need to get, it the bell housing from my 5 speed petrol engine will fit and if there is anything elst i need to know to facilitate as smooth an engine transplant as poss. (i have read a lot on here about diesel engines etc and still unsure of some of these answers) I am taking out a perfectly good albeit thirsty 2299cc petrol engine and replacing it with the 300 lump, will the gearing be ok also or do i need to fit a different box.

Many thanks

Andy

Gearbox is the same its the axles ratios that differed. I think the diesel and the 280 were the same, it was the 230 that was different, if I remember.

Yiu shoul dbe able to get some engine mounts if you post in parts wanted.

not 100% convinced the 230ge had different ratios, it was the 230g that definitely had the 5.33 ish ones as standard.
have a look on the axle id plate, ratio will be about 4.9 or 5.3.

I think it was the 230 and the 300GD that had the same axle ratios, 280s are generaly different, I say generaly because I have one with optional high ratio axles.
