Nice,
300d wasnt yours a 280GE , Bill , did you use any 300d s ?
why did small tyres get used on the Brixmis motors , to make it look less military ?
With the convoy lights fitted did REME retro fit a six way switch ?
Was a second battery fitted for the warn 8274 ?
cheers
Cliff
I have seen this and checked it out, the provenance is not as described, it was most likley once a police vehicle (pea green) the gun bracket on the roof is a blue light bracket, the diesel engine was probably retro added, all BGS vehicles were at that time petrol engined (common fuel policy) of the day, now changed to diesel (NATO Common fuel policy) and easier to create winter mix with kero for extreme cold conditions
pile of shite

Have I offended you Ian ??
Two Dogs. There were a limited supply of 15"x7" alloy rims if you go to the BRIXMIS web site you can see vehicles there with larger tyres fitted.
But LR 16" tyres were available more readily.
All military or government Gs were fitted with not only a dual battery system but also 2 wiring looms so that on covert ops lights could be killed at the flick of a switch. but ignition, and radio (if fitted still operated) the winch and bumper system fitted was an abortion (too heavy) others made a better job, See the USMML site. The BGS I have was to have been the replacement BRIXMIS, USMML & FMML. standard vehicle, easily reconfigured for varying crew sizes and with detachable winching for front or rear operation, swb for better off road and a modified suspension, engine is a 230 hi comp engine out of the slk mated to a 4 spd military box. It made for a much more capable and faster vehicle on or off road, the old 280s were good in their day but had draw backs, but peace broke out the wall came down, and after a number of years moth balled this and several others like it were deployed to Bosnia and Kosovo, mine is the only one remaining, I bought it in Kosovo and whent to collect it from the Kosovo chief of police.
Thats for that Bill ,
My time in Germany was much less interesting waiting in " fally " for the 1st shock army to fill the fulda gap .
But loads of fun all the same.
all the best
Cliff
I`m thinking to use one of my G`s for an oversee land treking trip, which one would you recommend the diesel or petrol model and any extra bits to buy and carry/take with me?
Also any ideas where I could get the G checked over before setting out?
In or around the Midlands would be good?
Indy, it all depends on where you are going?
G Class Centre Malvern is a good place to start.

Good fun loads of fresh air and a much digging as you want !
The stallys I only seen at night at replens by different colour torchs .
The smell of a full 432 mortar wagon , paderborner export , and OMD80
Happy days
Twodogs
Twodogs.
Dont you miss those days, I do. FV432s I suspect. ah yes the taste of Paderborner the smell of OMD 110, tripping over route signs in the dark.
We used to sneak around Senelager a lot keeping 1 Br Corps lot on their toes.
Those certainly were the days, Swing that lamp.
Bill, NO, just that he wants silly money for a pile of shite. Were do people get these silly prices from for G's.
Off on the old Hippy trail ending up in India/Pakisatan. Where abouts is this "G Class Centre Malvern"? a contact telephone number or post code would be a great help?
