Re: unimog fire truck

Trouble with Unimog fire trucks is that the lockers tend to be a long way off the ground so equipment is sometimes difficult to reach. It also renders them "gender specific" as opposed to "gender neutral", i.e. only suitable for hunky all-male crews as the female members have trouble operating them. Pinzgauer is the only recognised "gender neutral" fire engine, or so I was told by a senior fire officer who runs eight of them. Incidentally, Bucks has a solitary Pinzgauer on its fire-fighting fleet too.

I still like "Mogs" though; lovely trucks. :)

They have 3 of them all 2450L's & I sold them to Bucks fire & rescue when I worked for MBUK.
Hereford & Worcs have a U140L crewcab
plus there are about another 6~8 floating around

Essex Fire and rescue have used three axle crewcab pinzgauers for years, they have recently replaced the thier aging but tiptop condition Pinz s with new ones and before any one asks the old ones were presold to an other brigade, maybe Ireland or further a feild.
