I have a 300GES 1992 with a factory fitted sunroof.

The switch has four positions. If the sunroof is in the fully open position and I slide the switch back to close it, the sunroof will slide to close and then keep going to the popped up position without stopping in the closed position. If the sunroof is in the popped up position and I pull the switch towards the ground it will close and then carry on sliding to the open position without stopping in the closed position. Only by looking from the outside of the G can I close the sunroof by visually timing the switch with the position of the sunroof. I hope there is an easy fix.
I have changed the switch and relay. Is there anything else I can change or adjust?.

Thanks

Re: Sunroof problem

I got this advise from the mercedes benz owners association.

On the motor assembly is a white knurled knob that sets the endstop of the motor travel. It engages with the cable that moves the roof

Park the roof by running it all the way forward with the front/back switch (hold the switch forward till the roof stops moving), then run it back a couple of inches. Pull the knurled knob towards you to disengage it (it'll be very stiff). Move the roof __just a little__ with the front-back switch, and remember which way you moved it, forward or back. Push the white knob back in. Now run the roof back a bit then "park" it again

Is it better or worse? If it's better, do the same again till you find the right park place. If it's worse, pull out the knob, move the roof __just a little__, and then a little more, with the front-back switch but in the opposite way to last time (you do remember, don't you?). Then push the knob back & test again

You'll get the logic after a few tries & getting it horribly wrong. Basically your roof is parking too far back and you need to set the end stop further forward so the motor pushes it further

If you get the setting completely wrong the front-back switch will make it tilt & slide as well, so anyone with this problem now knows how to fix it!
