Can anyone tell me how the 1st joint on my 300 is supposed to seal? The downpipe from the manifold has a flexible bend before it meets the 2nd section. This union consits of the straight unflared end of the downpipe which locates inside the flared end of the 2nd. section.Inside the flared end fits a sealing ring. There are two clamps which then bolt the joint together, one captive on the 2nd section, the other floating. However tight I do up the clamps the joint still moves and bloody rattles. Is there a secret????? :?

Re: Exhausted!!

Are you using any sealing compound?

I had the same problem and ended up using some exhaust repair paste rather than just sealing compound. Also are you sure the ring is the correct size?

Re: Exhausted!!

Yes the ring is a perfect fit inside the flare, problem is because of the flex section and engine movement unless I can get the joint tight, sealant will just keep fracturing.By the way well done for working out the gobbledegook!
