Peter Perfects reply to my Wales – Shropshire Green laning trip and upsetting the locals etc got me thinking about what sort of place we live. So I thought I would re count an experience I had last Sunday.
Myself and 2 daughters, 12 & 7 took our Beagle for a walk in some forestry just up the road.

Towards the end of the walk, very pleasant by the way, a couple of 30ish guys appeared on a trail bike. At which point we were playing hide and seek with the dog, kids hide in the woods with a treat and he has to find them. So the 2 crettins now decide to take off at speed along the forestry track. Nearly run over the dog, who’s now spooked and runs off over the horizon. He’s a Beagle pup, notorious for being strong willed and being a county dog EG you’re in one county and he’s in the other
So I chase after the dog, at which point the 7 year old starts wailing because she’s alone in the woods and thinks I’ve deserted her.

Anyway after some amount of shouting on my part we’re all reunited and everything’s OK.

Was I p****d off with those 2  Well if I had a match and some diesel (G’s a 280GE fortunately) there would have been a Merc Sprinter bonfire (they had turned up in it with the bike).

So I guess we all need to show some respect for others but also this country’s a bit on the small and crowded side.

So Jesus when are you going to organise a Spanish trip?

Re: Respect?

russ,

hello, as a biker i dont know what to say. these people are ripping the sport apart, and the thing is is that its becoming a circle of doom. i know from riding myself you just slow down and take it easy, not only could they have hit the dog but, from an experience of a sheep running infront of a friend while in wales last summer, it would also throw them off. obviously dont know how to ride or what they are supposed to be doing.

Peter does have a point though, walkers mostly love to complain, they arent just closing down trails to bikes, but 4x4's as well and even British Championship rounds are being ousted from there settings. we need to keep our eye out for organisations fighting for us, as the government is only against us.

im sorry that has to happen to you, and i always find taking the inners from a tyre valve works well as didalo's like that will never realise its missing when they are trying to pump up their tyres.

regards,

Tom

Re: Respect?

This year is out of the question for me and Howard. I think next year would be a better bet if anyone is interested. Unless you want to go this year???

Re: Respect?

they do have a route for shinnies, but you need a co-driver to read the tulip maps, and for company.
