Re: someone must know....

It seems none of the tuning company's will do a SWB, it not stable enough and tries to lift the front wheels off the ground which is not good. :?

Re: someone must know....

At least before the launch of the G55 Kompressor, anyone owning a G500, be it SWB, LWB or Cabrio could send his truck to AMG and have it converted to a G55 (I have AMG's pricelist to prove it)

I guess it's a matter of cash. If you have enough of that, thay can do whatever youn fancy

Re: someone must know....

just to add to the above, a SWB G55 (might have been convertible, not sure) has been spotted in Dubai by a friend (whom I trust in cars!), but this was the old 354hp version, not sure if any of the K ones are around, and yes it seems to be special order, as it was driven at a desert outing by a member of the family that owns the dealership

Proof... a picture of a 2005 G55 Cabrio. Whether it is a K or not I don't know, but it is a 2005...

It was taken by a member of this forum while visiting the AMG plant...

Re: someone must know....

i think what the poster ment was G55K, as there are many swb g55 and brabus examples. A SWB G55k, would however be, AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!.

As for lifting the front wheel off the ground???. they would compensate by using a device that lowered the suspension at higher speeds. Not hard to do.

All that power is fine in a straight line but over 100k on a bend, I know my arse would tighten.

Re: someone must know....

i was wondering about the g55k yes. but nice to hear bout the others. i think mr perfect is right, the suspension would need a severe overhaul, and maybe some easy clean seats too!

as morty said, the money could get you anything!

Not quite: the fact is that MB no longer sell the non-kompressor G55 as a factory offer.

Which does not mean that AMG no longer converts G500s into non-kompressor G55s.

In fact the cabrio in the pic above is actually a 2005 spec G500 being converted into a G55 (possibly a non-kompressor) - see its rims.
