I see that after the recent forum problems, thanks for sorting things out Maxwell by the way, that my post re. Green laning around Shropshire – Mid Wales – North Wales has disappeared.

Anyway to reiterate I thought given the superb locations available in this part of the world and the lack of G type stuff going on it was about time someone did something!!

I am no expert when it comes to green lane routes so I thought about using the services of http://www.4x4web.simply4x4.co.uk/index.html.
I have spoken to Keith from Simply 4X4 and he has various routes and of course is up for a G Wagen outing. He came up with some suggestions around Bala, Lake Vyrnway, Corwen and into Snowdonia. I know the area and I think there could be some stunning locations, with little in the way of other traffic. Price around £30/vechile but maybe some reduction if there are enough. Ideal size is maximum 6. If he gets more he will split the group as he has other drivers who act as guides.

Please note I have NO knowledge or connection with the above. I just thought it would be a simple solution and a way of me abdicating responsibility!

Routes go from easy through to extreme. I was thinking along the lines of medium in order to suit a family type outing.

Could go for either a Saturday or Sunday or indeed a full weekend if any of you are up for that.

If you fancy making a weekend of it I suggest basing ourselves in the Oswestry area. I can suggest locations for eating out and accommodation. Plenty available from B&B to Travel Lodge through to Country House Hotel.

How about sometime around the end of March beginning of April? May have my suspension lift and rear quarter panels done by then (some hope!)

Anyway over to you. Suggestions other than the above?

Sounds good, count me in please. A full weekend would be ideal, perhaps the Saturday with a guide and Sunday without, or vice versa.

Re: Wales - Shropshire Green Laning

Does that mean you are up for it Peter?

Wasn't planning on going to the off road centre at Bala http://www.landcraft4x4.co.uk/off_road.html My company have used their services for off road / winch safety training in past, they also do off road play days.

Could go there if anyone fancys it though. I think it's £25 for a turn up and play day.

Re: Wales - Shropshire Green Laning

Regarding Piggysims offer of joining in with the J33P green laning trip the weekend of 25/26 March. It sounds, and from the link looks good to me :D

So I’m all in favour of joining in with them. However let’s not bin the North Wales / Snowdonia trip. I suggest I resurrect this trip for say September 2006. I will make sure I start another thread around 3 months prior to the trip which will be based on my original post.

Unless of course all who have replied feel differently?

I’m suggesting September as it is far enough apart from the J33P trip and away from the summer holidays.

So barring any disasters I’ve put the 25/26 March in my diary.

Over to you Rich, what happens now?

Re: Wales - Shropshire Green Laning

Greenlaning as you know does cause some stirring with some locals and sandal wearer's (Mark Blunden not included). How many is this limited too and do you go off in groups of no more than 4???. Can you ask the question as I can see at least 6 G's making there way on those dates.

Piggysims, Can we assume you will be the contact for these dates and that anyone interested should PM you. Can you contact the Jeep club on our behalf ???.

I will be in the canary islands on those dates  . Plenty of pictures please for G-Wizz.

Also we are looking for a southern rep for the GWOA. Are you also interested ?. Nothing major, its just organising things like this that is required.

Russ280.

September would be good. Can you confirm dates so I can enter this in the events calender for G Wizz issues. And give me some idea of location.
PM me if you wish. I will need you contact details so people can e:mail you direct.

Re: Wales - Shropshire Green Laning

Peter,
e-mailed you with respect to September.

Regarding the numbers issue I agree with you, the J33P site does however talk about splitting up in to small numbers and meeting up later.

Re: Wales - Shropshire Green Laning

Hi All,
I’m not linked in anyway to the running of the club so to make things easier its probably best that people interested to register for the event on the www.j33p.org site, I think you may have to join with the club which is free and then the club sends you out all the details automatically.

Its worth joining as they put a lot of effort in to organising events and have some good sites to use, I’ve been off roading with them for 5 years and never owned a Jeep!

Re: Wales - Shropshire Green Laning

OK I’m registered for the 25/26th March event. Come on guys, we’ve got to have more than just us and piggysims.

Now just a few things to sort out between now and the 25th, get exhaust back on, new rear ¼ panels, new shocks, 2inch lift springs, new gearbox……………um maybe not. I guess the exhaust will have to be fixed though, it’s a little on the loud side at the moment :D
