Sierra de Ayllón
Well, this thing is lately becoming a weekly event. I mean, we end up taking our Gs out for a scenic route every second week, taking advantage of the fact that Madrid is surrounded by enourmous areas very scarcely populated and that these are criss-crossed by thousands of public rights of way. As long as there are 6 or less vehicles travelling together, you do not require any permits to use those.
Yesterday we spent the day at the Sierra de Ayllón, between the provinces of Segovia, Soria and Guadalajara, some 100 miles north-east of Madrid. Yo can see by the map how isolated this area is despite being so close to Madrid: http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?lat=41.2764&lon=-3.2564&scale=500... . We did not see a human being in hours, not even practising hunting which is such a popular sport around there. Pity that we only encountered snow at the fall of the night but it made the view so beautiful.... we were surrounded by acres of virgin snow and there was no wind at all so we had a fantastic time getting our Gs stuck in 40-50 centimetres of snow... enjoy the pics.
