nice g long pick up...Jesus's cousin...??
Nice conversion!
Unfortunately that bodywork is not standard, but a conversion.
As far as I know, the only double cabs factory made were that nice Puch 2-door double cab pick-up which was on e-bay the other day (a prototype, I believe) and the Puch chassis double cab with the 3,120 mm wheelbase of which just 9 were made in 290 GDT guise.
This one was originally a standard 2,850 mm wheelbase station wagon with double tailgate, but I admit that it looks very nice.
Cheers
Jesus,
The Red one ( see, I can get all technical too ) looks like something out of a hot rod magazine, were they a special order or why built, who bought ?
Marcus
I am only guessing but there have been specials made to include a 5th wheel to carry a trailer like an articulated lorry, this one looks like one of them. Also there are a few around with pickup back especially in the forces
Hmm, Greeney,
I had not thought of that application, now one of those, with a fifth wheel and matching caravan WOULD be a option for touring Europe, or even furthur afield.
Marcus
you not wrong they look lovely..
I have built a few Mhomes myself and am already thinking of next project ...
could be...

No Marcus, as I said,
As far as I know, the only double cabs factory made were ............ and the Puch chassis double cab with the 3,120 mm wheelbase of which just 9 were made in 290 GDT guise.
The were intended to carry a "kipper" (or whatever that is called) in the rear. I realised that I have a few more pictures of this bodywork with that kipper. Nice setup the crewcab and the room in the rear to carry the tools and stuff....

Well, that was also tried but not in the factory but by somebody else.... does anybody out there know who did these?
Very impressive Jesus,
But to think,
I bought a VW syncro ( to a similar specification ) for work here a few years ago, I should have bought one of those as above -- the one with the snowplough not the beer trailer ! -- only I'm sure the Council would have choked on the price. If only I'd known :(
PS
The VW has been a good buy, "geared" for towing, very popular, excellent allrounder, and lovely to drive.
