My radio is a Becker Europa, I think this is original. I need to replace it but do not know how. Do I really have to remove the dash to get access or is there a quicker way? Delighted to hear from anybody who can help. Thanks Vic b.

Re: Radio replacement

your vehicle is a 460 so i dont think you need to do dash dismantling !!!
the radio was fitted by connecting all its cables then sliding it back into the slot in the dash. you will probably find that you need a couple of clips that go down each side of the unit and it will then pop out forwards.
regards mark

Re: Radio replacement

Sorry dont remember if you said what radio you had but most din radios require a "key" of sorts to go into the holes at the side all this does is to push sprung catches inwards to release it from the inner cage USUALLY a thin screwdriver will do it if pushed in far enough and carefully. then just pull the radio out...sometimes they are very stiff having not been removed in a long while even a carefull ease around the left and right hand side of the unit with a flat screwdriver may be needed , persevere though..

Re: Radio replacement

finally got it out. routed round a 230ce in the barn and found the exct tools! now to fit the head unit, its like conecting up a nuclear reactor with the wiring from an old soviet sub!!!!

Tom

p.s any one have speakers eitherside of their rear door? there seems to be ample vents just no speaker!

Re: Radio replacement

I fitted a kenwood system to mine as I love sounds and i could nt find a speaker that would fit into the space BEHIND the vent I did manage to find a place in the bottoms of the rear door panels though for 160watt sonys which were quite slender at the back. I also changed the ones under the dash in the side footwell panels for decent sonys I do need a good amp though as they are not working to their full potential but as i am "redoing" my interior Ill make sure this all happens then. I am considering an over head set

Re: Radio replacement

nice to hear. the gap at the back does seem pretty slender so i was thinking similar to you, but with 3 doors, so just in that trim behind the front seats. also if they are not on show it will be better security wise maybe.

ive been looking at the alpine 4 inchers for in the footwell and maybe some 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 in the rear. i think if i pay the little bit to have it done properly then it will look smart and sound smarter.

If its any use to you I used this company to make me a kit up http://www.noisekiller.co.uk/ very helpful guys and very good quality deadening I even got it in the bonnet recesses and back of the bulk head.
Especially for doors and panels where speakers sit
