Had to be towed into my garage and am now awaiting my mechanic to finish booked work in order he can look at my 463 petrol.
Stopped dead in traffic. Tries to start OK.
Stopped a passing RAC guy who checked, said there was no spark and only a trickle of petrol, not a roadside repair and arranged the tow-in.
Any ideas as to what I should fear?

Re: nervous impatience

when you turn on ign can you hear fuel pump spinning or does it stop. When was the last time the fuel filter was changed. There are 2 fuel pumps on 463, tucked under off side rear wheel arch, you have to take out arch liner to access them. There is a main fuel pump and a limp home one. This may be the fuel problem. As for no spark??.Does it run but only limp along??? or not run at all.

Oh yes, the RAC tech got under and said he could hear the fuel pump. Sorry about that.

Might be extremely important to know about the two pumps.

Car doesn't run at all.

The tech said he thought it was a problem beneath the large air filter on top but he was doing me a favour he shouldn't have and had been on the phone to the call centre who wanted to know who he was and why he was helping me. He was out of his area on the way home, not on duty and stopped because I flagged him down. He was on a training jaunt. Saved me waiting for assistance and then the flatbed.
Nice fella, wouldn't take a tip either.
