gear lever and linkages
Hello
when changing manual gearboxes on a 300gd from a 4 speed to a 5 speed will I also have to change the floor mounted lever and linkages from the 5 speed wagen. the 5 speed comes from a 300gd also. any advice?
Hi you will have to swop the 4 speed linkage and lever to the 5 speed version as the shift patern is different reverse is in a different place. I've just done the opposite swop putting a 4 speed in and taking a 5 speed out.
Found that out the hard way today!!! LOL
Put it in 1st and went backwards, thankfully not that hard, as the sea was on the other side of the wall I hit!
Gosh just like those dear old Series Landrovers, only they were designed that way !
What project is this then Martin, are you working on the blue LWB, I must get a run up to see your latest white one.

Still working on LWB 463. Auto swap out is still in realms of fantasy, especially after calling with Eddie Torrens this week. Nothing left!!... If you want those side windows get in fast!!
White one is lovely, call up anytime to see her. Should have Blue one back mid next week.Saw that other 460 Auto too late. (Still if the 1st guy dosen't buy it......... Always loved camping outside!!, at least i'll have the G's to keep me company)

I oohh soo nearly contacted you directly am yesterday when I spotted that Grey 460 Auto -- BUT NO I thought -- do not put temption in Martin's way.
P.S.
You could always take the good lady out to Fultons ( fine furnishings ) "open night" tonight until 23.59 -- bargins to be had galore I'm sure.
Anyway if you did I would get a chance to see your white "G" as that is where I will be apparently :( :( :shock: :shock: :cry: :cry:
But hey -- mayby she will take me to the pub first to sofen me up.

hello, thanks to all those members who answered my query, however I now require a lever and linkages from a 300 gd five speed, anyone got these for sale? I presume a floor lever from a 123 series car may do any advice here?
