anyone know what the oldest g is in the uk?
just got a 1982 lwb,cant decide whether to rescue it coz its old or to cut it up coz its rotten!

I remember seeing some left hand drive G's at a garage near Helensburgh, Scotland in 1979, but your guess is as good as mine as to whether any of them still exist or not. The guy had imported them direct from an MB dealer in Europe as this was before they were officially available in UK. I clearly recall that one of them was a van with vertical split rear doors.

i have bought back my first ever g which is o 1980 w reg 230g lwb with twin rear doors.first owned by merc as a demo.
sold it years ago in good nick needs a complete rebuild now though!!!
til i get the time and money it can sit outside my unit.

since i have a weakness for real ale that sounds good !!!!
as a small aside most people with post 82isk gs moan that the steering wheel obscures the instruments.
if you have the early wheel (two spoke, no horn on wheel) you will notice it is the commercial wheel, with a bigger diameter and you can see the instruments.

no need to appologise young man! dont realy need an excuse for ale drinking, you up fer the 2006 agm at our house? got a mad boozer just down the road with ale at £1.80 per imperial pint. Bargain or wot!!!
