Just wanted to tell you all how pleased I was with my trip in my G to southern Spain this summer. As you can see she's not that young but managed the journey very well, was planning to take it easy driving down to malaga province but ended up not stopping much, did France to Malaga in a day and that was driving through the heat of the day in August averaging a speed of 75 mph. Not that great on long hills so had to keep the momentum up when possible, car was very comfortable for long driving sessions, only problem was the heat coming off the central console where the gears are, is that normal?.....
I posted a question on this site before I left about oil leaking into the drivers footwell, it was suggested that the oil was coming from transfer box. Still havn't had this looked at even after thosands of miles driving abroad (foolishly I know). On my way back through France the oil really started to pee out onto my foot which was a bit worrying but I had to keep going. Eventually it stopped, does this mean perhaps all the oil has drained? if so what does that mean, is she in iminent danger, I hoping that it's only if you use all the gears and bits that there may be a problem? I want to get it looked at, do I need to take it to a specialist G friendly place or can most mechanics look at it.
I've got to say that after thsi journey the engine seems better than before, more power and responsive, I guess it doesn't like poodling around London. Didn't really do any serious off roading but did take it up and around the mountains of the Axarquia which was fantastic!
Wanted to pass on some info for anyone planning to go to France with an LPG conversion, make sure you get an adaptor for the French pumps, of course we have a different system to them!!! oh and Spain does not have LPG for non comercial vehicles.

My G trip

you need to check transfer box oil level, any idiot can do that, not meaning you of course. Found out the hard way about gas in france, but they do the adaptor in the motorway garages in a blister pack, wife managed to find it hanging up.

Re: My G trip

Any takers for the unnecessary heating off the central console? It's nice to have for the winter, but it's unfortunately hot everyday of the year for my Little G. My guess that it's comming from the exhaust pipe below and was planning to redo my fire wall and insulate the pipe ... not an English problem I suppose, but I am all ears ...
Cheers,
Jeff
