Hello everybody,
I am travelling in Canada with my G-wagen and after hitting a big pothole in Newfoundland I have the following Problem. The "check engine light " came on, vehicle has almost no power and is very hard to shut-off. There is no black or white smoke from the tailpipe. I have checked some of the basic stuff like fuses, relays, electrical connections and so on but have not been able to find anything wrong. Fuel filter and fuel conditions are good as well-no water contamination.
I was able to retrieve the fault code stored in the diesel control module-code is# 1622-
-poss shutt off valve but I am not sure. Any ideas what to do next ???
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks Andy

is it a a maual or auto. We have had the same problem with our sprinter vans. There is a sensor on the gearbox that was faulty. It will allow you to rev engine to red line when not in gear but retricts the revs to 2000 as soon as you engage gear, it seemd like loss of power but its becuase it wont allow you to rev engine

. It was a very simple and inexpensive repair. Sounds like the wires may have come loose on the sensor. Take a look underneath and have a wiggle with the wires on any gearbox sensor you may have.

I would say post your message on the benzworld forum as there are a few european members that may shed some more light on it. But if you have a fault code can you not find out what this is from MB. Its too much of a coincidence hitting the pot hole, what about vacuum pipes tried all of them. Can you obtain a cpc of the gearbox sensors.

Your throttle is also fly by wire on the 461 so you need to check the wiring there, but cant tell you where to start, sorry.

Was it raining at the time? Above your accelerator module under the bonnet there is a small drain hole in the box section of the bonnet. This allows water to drain away. Mercedes have issued a modification, which is a waterproof plaster to cover the hole as the water was running out and dripping into the unit. In the winter this could cause the accelerator cable to snap or stay open as the water would freeze. It has also been reported that it has caused the engine to run on reduced power do to contamination in the unit.

Also between the fuel filter and the fuel pump is a small inline filterm which may be blocked
