How exactly should you take a reading of oil level in autobox?

I thought it was engine running in park (having gone into reverse and drive for a few seconds each)?

- level should then be on min mark at 20-30c??......well thats the theory

Whenever I dip the autobox using above technique there is never a clear reading on the stick, just fluid up the edges?

What am I doing wrong? :?:

On mine the oil should be at 80C at 10-20c the level should be 30 mm lower. But that would be different for other g/boxes.
When you insert the dipstick to check leave it in there for 10 s or longer to allow the fluid to cover it. I never have any trouble reading it if I do that. Ideal time is after a long run.
