The three speeds on my wipers are no working, speed one is not available while the other two are fine. When the fastest speed is running for a long period it too gives up reverting to speed two. Is this an electrical fault, eg relay, or is this an electrical motor fault?

Any clues please - much appreciated

I have similar on my SL !

My intermittent and std speed wiper doesn't work, but fast wrks, unless I start the engine with it in intermittent mod, then it works for 5 minutes!

According to the Merc garage, its a relay issue, not a motor or major stick issue.

I have lived with it for 3 years, and in the Summer all modes start working again :)

I had this problem on mine. I found that there was a loose connection between the wires where the wiper stalk met the steering column. You need to check the soldered joints. The wire on mine was v tight and the wire had pulled away from the soldered joint but the insulation had remained so it looked like it was ok. You need a multimeter to check it. The wire allowed certain speeds to work but not others. Typical electrical fault

Presumably cured by re-soldering the wire or a new stalk (assuming if that started failing, other functions will begin to fail soon)...
