heater blower
could someone give a brief description of changing a blower motor on a 460 ,many thanks, Richard.
I personally cant.
Will be attempting it shortly so will keep an eye on this string.
Rumours of 9 hour job with full dash removal abound!!
Cheers
Bugger,
Had all typed up and lost the lot!!!
Anyway - search for "blower" -- quite few posts -- a motor from a MB van is the same -- per "Rustbucket", try a breaker?
And having successfully cured various leaks ( incl at blower unit ) in my own "G" my accessment would be TEDIOUS rather than TECHNICAL.

what vans are these coming out of?
And contary to what I read here.. if your fan fails on any speed setting you do not need a new fan (nice new MB now awaiting failure..) . .the speeds are controlled by the switch and some resistors mounted by the motor. My "lost middle speed" was due to corrosion on one of the connectors to the resistor pack but to fix this is as bad as changing the fan motor.
Have whole dash out now so it is relatively easy :cry: .. but basically you start digging with the central panel.. and keep going.. and going .. given the fiddle about putting the clips back on that holds the 2 halfs of the plastic assembly together it was nice and easy having no dash top or bottom steel structure but I suspect you could manage with some choice words to do a Houdini :lol:
What I noted down from reading here was;
"cant be to sure with the part numbers but I have fitted the Heater blower motor from a 207 d to five 460's and they all have been ok the only slight hitch is the balancing of the fan blade on a couple of jobs after fitting you could feel a slight vibration with the heater motor on full speed this is because the motor is supplied without the fan and the original fan and motor are balanced together so you have to use the old fan with the new motor which are not a balanced pair but even with them not being a balanced pair the vibration is not to bad and i think acceptable relative to the cost of a mercedes o.e part regards Terry"
" The MB part no for the van is A0008206242 according to Eurocarparts"
Hardest bit was working out how hard you have to prise to get the idle speed control knob off; it was so secure I was convinced it had a screw holding it on somewhere... plus those M6=10mm head bolts that hold the central section in place are a pain to get to.
It is NOt a job for the faint hearted. been there done it. good luck
