gearbox?? problems??
Does anyone have the following items for sale, for the 300GD 1984 LWB (Diesel):-
Rear Folding Seats (x2)
Rubber, that goes outside on, above the windsreen
Rubber seals that go around the windows at the bottom (x4)
Also the last owner said that when it 4/5 gear it, Only Somtimes, just stops, so you get underneath and pull this siliver tube/pipe and off you go?
Luckly it has`t happened as yet, but gear box makes rather a rattle and sticks in 4/5 also difficult to take from 1st gear to reverse, and when in neurtral, you can feel it hitting other and jumps into 1st gear???
Taken it to Merc, dealers in Derby, who said it would mean stripping the gearbox to see what is wrong and at £85 an hour, not knowing how long it will take made me Run out of there!!
Any ideas, novice but proud newowner of the great G!
dont even know why you went to merc :?: Firstly up date your profile so we know where abouts you are located that way we all know if we can provided you with someone in your area. Honestly, the gearbox does need to come out and exchange is about £800 fitted unless theres someone here breaking a g.
I guess the 307/8 might be as the engine is the same, You need to get part number from gearbox to see if you can match it to a van.
before stripping the gearbox you should get someone to check that the selector linkage is setup right,with the help of the workshop manual available from the club

Any other person around the Greater Derbyshire area who could give me a second opion, out there???
Van parts are still readily available, if the G gearbox is compatable!!

Do you recon that other gearbox`s might be compatable? Like the 207/208 vans??
