Hi all,

Getting to the last stages of rebuiiding an old diesel om617, in situ.

The timing chain slipped causing the 4 alloy camshaft carriers to disentegrate. There appears to be no valve damage - the carriers being the weakest link.

Have sourced the carriers, a new timing chain guide and overhauled the injectors.

Obviousy had to remove the top timing wheel from the undamaged chain.

Hoping someone has attempted this before and can give me a few clues as to timing. Are there timing marks? Is the timing taken from the no.1 cylinder? (Injectors not yet fitted back).

Or is this best left to an expert?

any help gratefully received?
