Well, you have seen it somewhere else posted by our Chairman, Mr David Watkins.

The Mercedes G-Club e.V. (German G-Club) is organizing it's 2005 treffen. It will be taking place in the western part of Germany from the 17th-19th of June. Non members to Heinrich`s Ev club are also welcome, but must register in advance with Egbert Malcher (45€ each adult, including the dinner on the Saturday evening, the use of the off road track, there will also be several presentations during the festival. One highlight will be the G Club convoy from the off road track near Gillenfield/Eifel to the Nurburgring race track on Sunday Morning access to the racetrack an extra 12€.)

This is the map of the place:

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?GridE=6.90588&GridN=50.12849&clie...

And this is an automatic translation to the notice in the German club’s website:

Quote:
Yearly meeting 2005 Dance on the volcano it gives meeting places, whose name sounds more exciting, but none is more explosive than these: The yearly meeting 2005 takes place from 17 to 19 June in the volcanic Eifel. In this landscape, in the border area to Belgium and Luxembourg, there are nearly 500 volcanos. Those expired all, but under the Eifel it bubbles still completely enormously, says the Vulkanologen. Nearby the Pulvermaares is the geologically interesting area of the yearly meeting. There we would like to drive from Friday to Sunday to heart desire over stick and stone. Adventure playground On this weekend the Eifel will tremble - naturally only over the earth. From free driving in the extensive area over the Trial up to the Geo-safari there is again an attractive program. And who polarizes always times from position to start wanted, in addition opportunity has in the Sunday morning. We will drive the most beautiful racing course of the world in the Korso (weil's 2004 were so beautiful...) to the Nuerburgring and wait green hell there, for us: Start freely for the round of the g and m-classes on the north loop. And again it will give a world record, which only the members of the g-club can do "experienced". Who would like to participate in the yearly meeting, should up to 15.05.2005 in the office announce itself. The costs amount to for members 30, - EUR, for non-members 45, - EUR per person starting from 12 years. The program and the announcing documents are printed in the Mercedes jeep magazine expenditure 1/2005.

Just one more thing. These guys are masters at organizing events and were the people who organized last year's 25th anniversary celebrations. All the story is here: http://mercedesgwagen.galeon.com/enlaces1009601.html and all the pictures here: http://foro.g-aventura.com/album_cat.php?cat_id=5

So who is coming?????? Please register your interest here.

Cheers

I'll be there

Snap decision just taken and even have a pass from the boss :D

Anyone else? Could make an interesting convoy, plus I'd rather not be the single Brit.

Looks like registration deadline is today, they'll probably extend that a bit but you need to get your skates on.

Da-Da, Da Da Da Daa Daa Daaa ...

GWOA booking?

Jesus - what's the form for booking in on this one - did you organise it last year? Happy to help out if you can't make it this year. Just sent an inquisitive mail to the Deutsche office about deadlines, deposits etc -

Regards,
Rob.

Don't you guys worry about registration. Last year we spent most of the time before arriving in Merklingen worriying about getting registered, having failed to do it in advance and about the poor image that the GWOA was supposedly giving the German club because of this. Eventually we found the Germans extremely accomodating with us. What I suggest is that we first find out who would be interested and then we let them know about our plans.

Ok - anyway the mail address on their website doesn't work :(

I'm definitely up for it, probably go over on Friday or possibly at sparrow fart on Saturday morning - meet you for bacon butties on the M26? If it's Friday then might still not get there until Saturday, depending on map reading and what we pass along the way.

Regards,
Rob.

Well if I take the southern flank via Calais we should get them in a pincer movement.

Need some reinforcements though ...

Max,

Last year's event costs should give you an idea. Three nights hotels (sharing a double room in traditional gästehause), three people sharing a G for transportation and to Merklingen which is much farther away than this year's event, including channel-crossing ferry but excluding meals (other than those provided by the German club or the B+Bs) were just under £ 250 pp.

Cheers

The distance is about the same via either Calais or the Hook of Holland, the cheapast crossing is via the new fast ferry from Dover to Bolougne the most comfortable is the over night from Harwich to the Hook which includes a cabin for 2 Buffet dinner cinema or Casino Breakfast the following morning and a return via Amsterdam.

It wasn't you... it was the storms.

As King Phillip II said, when mourning the losses: "I did send the Armada to fight the English, not the English weather".

And of course I am not pi$$ed. Just overworked and underpaid.

Cheers
