Re: Xenon Headlights

The lack of reply could mean no one has them fitted but I feel you would have had a better response if you had asked what you want to known of these type of lights.

My opinion of these; I am not impressed at the illumination or brightness for the prices demanded.  Don't get me wrong, they are bright but not to my expectations.  Largely being at the receiving side of these lights, I always find these type of light to glare, they seem to have a poorer cut off angle for an on coming vehicle.  I don't think they even have a pattern to them, only a height adjustment and that seems to boarder at that height of one bump and you get a glare.

I think this is why these have not been received so well in the continent.  I think there was some hoo, haa of banning them to vehicle there.

But I do wear glasses now, Bill.

Re: Xenon Headlights

Hi Bill,

By Xenon do you mean just replacing the bulbs with Xenon filled H4s as a direct replacement or fitting complete replacement HID lamps and possibly reflectors/lenses as well with associated ballasts etc due to the different voltages required??

If the former, I have fitted H4 60/55W Ring Xenon Ultima bulbs to my G500 to good effect - really pleased with their increased light output - also seem to work fine with the standard Hella headlamp units.

As I understand it, HID conversions are not actually legal unless the vehicle has automatic self levelling fitted as well in order to reduce the potential for glare for oncoming drivers that Rakesh refers to. So, in theory, fitting HID lamps to a G should be an MoT failure ........

Hope this helps!

Xenons are so 90's.  ;)  lol

LED's are the way forward

It's only UK cars that have a pattern, spreading light to the kerb on dipped beam. Other countries in Europe just dip straight down.

Re: Xenon Headlights

They are already fitted to the 270 cdi I just picked up in Germany Mark, I wanted to know what the procedure was to convert them to UK dip pattern, I have the info now and have completed it. The last one I had I shipped to the USA so I didnt have to do it, I couldnt wait 3 weeks for shipping that one back so I bought another one to run here,
