Hooray ! Got my leaking Passenger Wiper Spindle changed today.
Only changed the Leaking Passenger Side but had to buy the whole wiper kit which does both sides and connecting rods.
That cost £168.78 including fiting kit. The Dealership will only change the whole thing (both sides) which is a 6 Hour Job, so would have cost £600. eek! plus the parts

So did it myself today.  If you are only replacing the passenger side then, you only need to remove the glove box. It's a bit tight and you can only really  use one hand. Also  you are doing it blind as you cant see and what your doing at the same time
Even though I was only using 1 spindle from the Kit - having the whole Kit including connecting rods really helped as I could see how it worked and what I would be feeling for through the glovebox.  I also got to pop of the spindle from the socket on the new one and practiced putting it on again. So I knew what I had to do before attempting to join the spindle to the socket on the original one in the G.  Without having the whole wiper kit  to "Visualize" I dont think I would have been able to do it otherwise.

Took about 3 Hours but could be done in 1 Hour easily.
I spent  about 2 hours trying all sorts of ways to pop the new spindle back on to the old socket,  there just wasn't enough space to manipulate them together again. I then realised  that If I switch the wiper motor on - then when the drivers side wiper (which is still attached) was in the vertical position - Stop it by switching off the ignition with your other hand (while still holding the connecting rod with other). This moves the connecting Rod at passenger side closer to you and into more open space, making it fairly easy to pop back on with a pair of grips.

I noticed lot  of sound proofing on the bulkhead had had come away and disintegrated due to all the water getting in. So if anybody can recommend some soundproofing please let me know.  I also found the Glovebox light fitting which had been missing. The glove box insert has been damaged.
Probably by whoever put the new sound system in. So if you have part number for glove box Guru Gav  :) that would be usefull.

Hi

Glad you got sorted...

You can buy insulation any where but...

MB do sell it in rectangular pieces about 150mm x 400mm from memory.

Part number is A168 682 03 08 and you can just cut it to shape and it is very self adhesive and flexible.

£10.02 + vat per sheet and MBUK have stock.

Glovebox liner is A463 689 01 91 9A96 which superceeds to A463 689 01 91 7C25

and they are £58 + vat and MB Germany have stock.

Your interior is Grey and i think the liner is probably originally Black but they are only available in Grey, not that it matters.

Gav

There will still be a kit of parts and piles of washers afterwards. :)

If I remember correctly:  Spindle, 2 nuts, fibre washer and cap is all that is needed to replace a spindle on one side.
