While trying to trace my alternator fault, I came across the MB 3 way terminal block that is screwed to the DS wing under the air filter.

When I took the top off it and cleaned the muck out of it, the terminals all came apart as they were badly corroded and now I'm not entirely sure what was connected to what!

The only wiring diagram I can find is too poor to read properly. fixwin38 took a look and suggested that some of the wires were part of an alarm system that hooked in to the central locking - I wasn't aware that this vehicle had an alarm though, if it does its not operational though.

Anyway, just wondered if anyone could have a go at suggesting which wires are connected to which of the 3 terminals (ignore the black wire that is next to the blue one from the alternator.. its a new tap from the W terminal for a tacho I plan to fit.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Terminal Mystery

My wiring diagram for a W460 covers model upto 1984.  It does not show any block connections.

Your bet is, if a member who has a 300GD, to photograph his vehicles block terminal and posting this on the forum.

You could try asking on of the Independent G-Wagen specialist, I know official M/B dealer will not help.

If you subscribe to M/B Service and Parts portal, they can provide this information from WIS (Workshop information system), this will cost around €4.00 for an hours access to the site.

I will see what I can do in the mean time.  If you have no success PM me, but do provide me with your Chassis No. please, without it, we are working BLIND.

Cheers,

Re: Terminal Mystery

It looks as though it was a post 1984 addition. The part is actually listed on the Eurotruck site http://www.eurotruck-importers.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_78&products_id=1348

Here's a pic of my 230GE 1987 460.  Airfilter box at top of pic.  Should be able to see from this.

Re: Terminal Mystery

Great, that was very helpful.   The final configuration that worked was as you have it, but with the additional -ve back from the battery compartment on the 3rd terminal and the additional +ve on the middle one. I'll post some pics later. Thank again!
