Re: Talking Gear Boxe

Hi Fred

Far too technical for me, but i have attached the EPC picture for an expolded view if its of use?

I do know that if it is item 5 that has gone faulty , the main shift mech, then it is no longer available in RHD if thats what yours is.

The LHD one fits but the gate details are on the wrong side and you need to swop more parts too.

I appreciate yours may be LHD anyway.

There looks to be lots of little springs and clips etc under there that could be popped off?

Does it drive OK? Just cant get it into "manual" shift mode?

Re: Talking Gear Boxe

Hello Fred,
I remember ours did that once, as hardly anyone ever used the lower gear selection. What the dealer did if I remember right was strip it down and give it a good clean, and everything worked great again. You are moving it sideways into 4th gear before trying to select the lower gears of course? Just checking :)

Re: Talking Gear Boxe

 Hi,

Actually turned out not bad. There is a little cheep plastic box inside the gear box selector that can crack and a little bit can break down and fall further down between the gear selector. If your good at self maintenance I am sure one can fix it one's self with the correct part number. If your stuck I can look through past invoice and see of I can find it.

One remedy was to jiggle it out, which worked only for it to stick further up and I could not get it out of reverse! (some more jiggling and it got back into D.)

I think the work was:

remove the top wood cobver
special tool to open the next bit
replace the plastic suround
then replace.

Cost more in labour! :)
Hope this helps

Hi Fred

I think? the part Spider if refering to is shown of the picture i posted earlier

You will need to double check but i would think it is either.....

Item 10 A202 267 01 37 £12.30 + VAT MBUK

or.....

Item 310 A129 260 09 94 £13.60 + VAT MB Germany

or both.....?

Hope this helps
