Replacing my starter motor on a OM617, the new starter didn't come with a new O-ring and I can't seem to find a part # on the EPC (the item 'Seal ring' A0089979148 that is shown on the EPC is actually the Oring seal that goes between the 2 halves of the started motor body).

The old O-ring had perished to a point where I can't measure it, but the specs look something like a 85mm x 3mm

Does anyone know what the part number is for the original though ?

Re: Starter Motor O Ring seal

Hi

If you have EPC?

Starter is shown on the first picture of Group 15 Engine Electrical.

If you look at picture 105 on Group 15 (should be the 4th picture out of 5)

Item 20 shows a gasket, rather than an O ring, part number A102 151 01 80 that is available from MB Germany

they are £2.65 + vat and is valid for your chassis number.

Hope this helps

Gav

Re: Starter Motor O Ring seal

 Thanks Gav.

I couldn't find that part listed at all on the Russian sites for my vehicle, though it does show up I see for later models www.neoriginal.ru/cat/mb/part__2_1_503_603_931_/15_015_463_1_931_603_931 Peter (Fixwin) here also said they dropped this gasket for later starters so that is also a possibility. I've ordered this part anyway since it is cheap enough to take a punt. Thanks for the help!

Re: Starter Motor O Ring seal

I have used silicone seal to substitute for the o-ring or gasket.
