My 1991  GEL has a Spyball immobiliser.  This company went bust some years ago.  It's making intermittent squarking noises and draining the battery.  I don't have the key to turn it off and disconnecting it renders the vehicle unstartable.  Any advice welcome - a spare key to turn it off would be a bonus, I imagine they all have the same key.

Re: Spyball alarm/immobiliser

Hello consur,

I have no expertise in security systems, but an initially enquiry shows that the spyball immobiliser is a bike system; I don't see why it cannot be adapted to vehicles.

Some URL addresses that may be useful; the last one of Cobra alarms or security dealt in spyball, perhaps you could have a key cut from them.

Found it hope this helps

according to my manual the alarm automatically switches off if the bike is not moved for 5 days only the immobiliser remains active it wont respond to your transmitter as the receiver is OFF if this happens make sure everything on the bike is switched off press button 1 on your transmitter (should be the left one ) and HOLD while turning the ignition to the ON position this should reactivate the alarm

Is the vehicle's battery in good order or is the battery in the alarm good?  Any weakness in either Battery, could give you the problem you describe, water ingress, as you say can still be an issue.

Cheers,

Hi George
do you have the fobs ? if the main battery has been disconnected then the  fobs will require re programming ..where is the master key switch located ( usually in the glove box ) and is it a round profile key slot

Re: Spyball alarm/immobiliser

Peter the unit itself has a flat key slot for which I don't have a key.  There is a minature toggle switch in the glove box which I have never touched.  I think the battery in the unit itself is dying but I can't get at it.  I will try some of Rakesh's contacts tomorrow and report progress in due course.
