seat covers
Hi all,
my drivers seat is almost worn through on my 300 GE and can't seem to find a way to patch/re-upholster it, so anybody know if there is a fitted seat cover that is specific to the G
I had mine recovered in leather, cloth is just as expensive
MB do sell just the seat base cover .. seem to remember it was £130-170 but would be a DIY to fit.. was meaning to do it to mine; I do worry as getting the colour right could be an issue as the build data is not very precise (e.g. trying to get new big buttons to hold the interior trim for example I had to tell them the colour). Plus someone in Austria was selling the material by the metre at prices that might fear you..
Have you shown it to a good Auto Trimmer for their advice?
You can buy new seat covers from MB but will be expensive £200?+ though will be easy for a trimmer to fit?

Just need your chassis number to confirm
The factory used to supply a linear metre of cloth / fabric in the applicable pattern but no longer do this, however as stated above you can buy this on eBay for circa £100 and a good trimmer could sort.
Where are you in the country? Most seat trimmers could possibly repair using spare material from elsewhere on the vehicle?
Cheers
Gav
Could you pls give an indication on the cost for replacing all cloth seats for leather on a swb 463 , and where it can be done ??? Thanks
I would advise getting a couple of quotes and also showing the trimmer some photo examples of factory leather, in particular the door cards as these are rucked and getting it right is important but not particularly difficult.
I have a swb and it cost me £950 which I think is ok particularly as 4 years back I was quoted £1300 but prices vary, as does quality but the greatest cost is the hides themselves.
PM me your chassis number and i will dig up what i can find
Gav
try these 2 places, i hope you find your fabric
they seemed to be the nly ones who still stocks even the first gen 460 fabrics
good luck

Hi Gav,
I'm in London. My seats are of the cream beige variety, MB no longer seem to supply the material my garage tried to source it but with no luck.
I'll have alook on ebay, not sure where on the vehicle you could take material from without ruining another seat. Maybe a genric loose seat cover will have to do, but a bit ugly I fear !
