W460 Owners'.

Some news of possible interest to all W460 Owners. Reference rear number plate lights. Those of you, who have the cluster of three 'Hella' number plate lights will probably know, if you have tried to buy one from your local dealer, how expensive they are!

Mercedes part number: A 000 544 34 34 is just over £16.00 plus VAT.

An alternative source can be DAF trucks dealers; one dealer quoted £4.08 plus VAT and another dealer quoted £6.26 plus VAT.

Should you need to buy a number plate light, try one of your local DAF commercial dealers.

Hella part number of the same is: 2KA 997 011.

The DAF dealers use TRP (Truck and Trailer Part) No: 1427058 - quote this number with them.

This light may be got from ebay, quoted between £5.00 to £10.00, but postage will be another £5.00 to £10.00, adding to the cost of light.

Re: Rear No. Plate Light

Tried this.. here are my notes;

Rear numberplate lamps
(mounted on bumper over long/wide plate); Hella dealer will do the same style .. I had a miss matched collection which were all spade type connection. The only spade type is 2KA-997-011-021 which is black plastic. There are two steel covered versions with screw terminals; 2KA-997-011-011 in chrome finish and 2KA-997-011-001 which is black. These are 82x26 with 31mm height and two M6 studs 45mm apart sticking out 17mm.
An alternative Hella is 2KA-001-389-101 in 10 pack in black plastic. Spare covers are 9BG-1190721-001. This is 80x28 with 31mm height and seems similar studs but not spade/screw details.
000 544 34 34 Description: LICENSE PLATE LAMP

.. sure I have a few spare new Hella ones in their boxes as I went with a "463" central plate look in the end (compromise as number plate is close to tow hitch) .. those rear offset number plates always look beat up and scruffy! So for a proper MB black steel with spade terminals.. you cannot buy from Hella... you have to decide on steel+screw terminals .. or plastic and spade terminals.. but I never found out what the "ten in a pack" version was but it was a little bit off in dimensions from OEM one (but would still fit).
