REALLY LOOKING FOWARD TO A TURBO DIESEL MANUAL CONVERSION
Just got home after my long day out down at Mike axel & Tonys place down bristol way, went down to collect a gearbox for my 280ge auto to get it back on the road asap ,
why i was there to my delight i got to drive Tonys 5 speed 2.9 td & Mikes 6 speed 606 td :) both G,s drove amazing , know i cant wait to get all my parts collected up & mine converted hehe . also got a sneak peak of the super-G :) ( AMAZING )
thanks again guys for letting me come down & drive your G,s , i still cant get over the way they light the back wheels up haha ..amazed

606a all the way !
how did the two G's compare jamie. i am presuming they both are quick off the mark upto about 60, but the 606a keeps going after 120 where the 602a starts to max out. [off road i think the 602a may have the advantage though, with better torque at lower rpm unlike the v8!!!!

*sniff* Actually I have seen it in the flesh and was very impressed, as Axel was at pains to tell me he too has Wood, Leather and Carpet :). I did see the engine conversion and heard it as well. I was also impressed that Axel was keeping up with me on the way back from the pub. I also saw the very impressive videos of Tony's V10 MONSTER kicking into life and reving so the roof almost came off!!
(Thats the kind if stuff we have chats about when we have our mini sourthern regional gatherings as well as good food and other things)
But.....
In reality - its not a 463 *sniff* :)

your right , the 460 and 463 are two very different vehicles . just imagine if axel did the 606a conversion on a 463 !! now that would be a different kettle of fish.
miss the uk meets we had spider...
might be over in february for a few weeks. if so maybe a north circular roundabout meet would be possible. maybe...
[that cold weather keeps making you sniff mate. you might wonna come over here for a few weeks and get some better weather and mybe drive a G off road properly....]

Hus yeah there both quick off the mark they both pull well up to 80 - 90 .. sorry to use these cars as an example but its the only way i can describe them, tonys was the 5 speed wrx & mikes was the 6 speed sti haha

Will be an awesome beast when it's done.
That it will .. as long as my G is pulling & feeling like either of the ones i drove yesterday i will be over the moon , not to mention the long run saving on fuel .. in a way i wish i did not have a go because my brains doing over time and i want mine done now like yesterday
Oh also i forgot to mention that when we left mikes place we had a 3 axel heavy plant trailer on the back and it still pulled like a train .. :) My g wagon is having the auto box fitted as i type fingers crossed its back on the road tomorrow ;) as thats being done im working hard @ building up my conversion parts up, sourced the manual pedal box & clutch plumbing of to collect this afternoon.. My g needs that modern power & feel about it ASAP

Spider like i was saying to mike il have to let you know when i loose the RRS lol & go G-55 & have the best of both worlds hehehe
