Rather Nice...complete with hutchinsons
I don't think the wheels suit the car
I don't like the wheels, also, they'd be a complete pita to clean.
They were designed specifically for them (or rather the original billet Hutchinsons were.. I suspect that these are cheapie cilillian cast versions by Rockmonster). The 617A he has for sale he wants £3500 for
Only 17 RHD cabrios produced? Huh? I must have seen 7 of them.. Gav - how many were really made ?
I have one of them

Certainly saw quite a few in the west country in the late 80's
Local dealer,Normand-Cruikshank had one with a coach built roof and cab [v nice job they ran for 10 years as a sevice vehicle ['D' reg]
I think they were sold at a fair discount to try and get some more visibility for the slow selling 'G'
Well done Gav !
Hi All
as far as I can research the UK spec was for Pickup only and as a result none of the 5 seat cabrio version were available from 537 dealers except by special order
I did find one that was supplied to Cyprus in 5 seat cabrio form and RHD ( as a dealer demonstrator ) built to a Mercedes in house Marketing order number
OK.....
From the 197 worldwide RHD SWB Cabrio's sold
Only 37 had the option of the Rear Seats fitted - S55 - Bench Passenger's Compartment Foldable
As follows....
230G - 3 = 460.210 BM
280GE - 3 = 460.212 BM
230GE - 8 = 460.218 BM ***1 in UK 537 - Astral Silver***
240GD - 14 = 460.310 BM
300GD - 9 = 460.312 BM
3 Cypriot vehicles in there, all 240GD's
I can also find just one with code S76 - Rear Longitudinal Bench Seat - Basically the sideward facing seat in the Load area, (just on the right) It is a UK vehicle in paint code 9040 Jet Black....
I guess the rear seats are an easy retro fit as they look to be the same as the SWB Station Wagon...
Oh, and one of the 197 was actually a Puch 230GE!
Gav
Hi
Only lap strap seat belts can be used for the rear seat unless you fit the SWB arrangement which gets in the way when you have the soft top removed
and in some cases the seat belt hardpoints in the floor are corroded + the original cover had no side windows
all I have seen had the sidewall rear seat ashtrays fitted / no side wall seat back latches and in most cases the spare wheel attached to the back of the passenger front seat
Hello all, just joined forum.
Have recently purchased red G WDB4603122705594608 convertible, car is currently being shipped to Cyprus, have also seen the other red G here in Paphos. Would be grateful for any info or history relating to my recent purchase. Car has original factory spare wheel carrier, 7" JR alloys and stainless steel side bars,
Thanks in advance. Regards Gilbo
Hi Gilbo
And welcome....
Can you double check the chassis number?
Should be 17 digits including the WDB so you have 2 too many
I think the WDB 460 312 27 is OK but the 05594608 is 2 too long, i think it has a 5 and a 4 too many?
Let me know
Gav
