For all the members who are having technical problems while posting, it would be useful to have a bit more info. You should be able to write your message and then just click "save", or "preview" it first if you wish to, without resorting to copying & pasting, etc. If your having technical problems posting,( computer crashes, browser freezes etc,) please let us know your, Exact operating system. Internet browser you use ( or browsers) Anti virus. including version number. Many thanks.

Re: Problems posting on forum.

Hi Mark
I compile an answer to the incoming message and if I click on " save" it dumps me right back to the desktop..if I click on  "browse" and then delete the browse window then click on  "save" the message is sent.. """nothing is more frustrating than to compile a message and watch it disappear  along with the GWOA website.... and why "save" I want  to send the message not save it """

with PMs I click on author in the incoming message this highlights the author then click on message  to access the meesage window ...compile the message ...click on "send message"  PM is sent  with copy in "messages sent" any other way dumps the website...hope this helps !!!

Re: Problems posting on forum.

It seems macs are fine, but with various pc software, and anti virus it has to be a pc problem.

Re: Problems posting on forum.

 Thanks fixwin.
Where do you see a "browse" option?. I have a "save" and "preview" option, but no "browse"
In the attached pic are you seeing browse rather then preview?
Agreed, it must be very frustrating to loose messages, and you shouldn't have to go to those lengths to post.

I don't know why it's "save" instead of "post" "submit" or "send", but really "save" make as much sense as any of the other words, you are "saving" your message to the forum board.

To get anywhere with this problem we do need to know the following.
Exact operating system.
Internet browser you use ( or browsers)
Anti virus.

Thanks

Re: Problems posting on forum.

Hi Mark
to reply to this message I click on reply in right hand corner this brings up this window I am typing thiss message into ..when I finish typing I scroll down and see "input format" on the left then "attaching files to this comment with a paperclip symbol " and Browse on the right ...if I click directly on SAVE or PREVIEW I lose the website and the next thing on the screen is the desktop...if I click on Browse a window opens with a number Browse options... when I click onto the X in the right hand top corner the Browse window closes ..I can now click on SAVE and the message is sent ----like this

Re: Problems posting on forum.

This used to happen to me.  For other reasons, mainly internet explorer being rubbish at exploring the internet, I changed to Google chrome which is excellent at such things as exploring the internet.  (Explorer 9 seems to be a complete rip off of google chrome).

To make all your browsing less stressfull get Google Chrome on your computer ASAP.

Re: Problems posting on forum.

Could be time related?  If my post is short, or I don't get interrupted, it is normally fine, but more than 5 mins or so and it will crash IE.

My IE version is:
IE 7.0.5730.13
I am running Windows XP
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-2111)"
I have OfficeScan from TrendMicro, v10.5

I get a Dr Watson exception if I wait too long and choose Preview.

If I select 'Save' - the first click seems to 'miss' and takes me to the bottom of the page, then when I click again I can see it actually save (takes 10 secs though).  I think that might be resetting some timer doing this.

Re: Problems posting on forum.

Thanks very much, the exact info we need.

The time relative thing is a very good point. I know forums in general will crash if you leave the page open for long enough, but I'm talking hours, not 5 or 10 minutes.
Thanks.

I don't know why, but neither can I.
Thanks for pointing out,  with a bit of luck some of these issues will be sorted soon.

Re: Problems posting on forum.

Work PC = IE7. Won't let me upload a new picture by my name. Says that changes have been saved then just goes either to the default one or the old picture. No sign of the new one.
Home PC = IE8 and when I post anything, it now tells me that the tab has been recovered due to there having been a problem, although it does seem to save any posts

Re: Problems posting on forum.

I can't access the home page. When I run my mouse down the list on the left hand side, it is not an option that I can highlight. I have had to go in via google, onto hte forums page and then click on things that way. Despite this, I still can't get on to the home page at all
Using Mozilla Firefox and not IE
If I try to use my old link to the page (as per before the crash) I get a 'server default page'

Re: Problems posting on forum.

Try hovering the mouse ove the m & e of the "home" link, see if that works.

I don't know why, only half of the "home" is a link.

Re: Problems posting on forum.

Reinstalled Firefox, now got rid of that server default page, but you're right. It is only half the word that works! All OK now
Cheers

Re: Problems posting on forum.

I am using Mozilla Firefox (to overcome all those nasty IE issue with the GWOA site - like double posting and crashing the browser after typing for ages).

On the left hand side, the 'home' link at the top of the list is only accessible (linked) on the letter 'e'

I can live with that.  Especially as you have the option of clicking on the big reg GWOA log just above it !

Sometimes after posting mine displays the "windows has encountered a problem and must shut down etc" notice. However, the post is made successfully.

Re: Problems posting on forum.

I know my phone is nearly as old as my G wagen but it is running Windows Mobile 6.5 with Opera Mini. I can browse fine but when I try to post I can't type in the box and on clicking save the post reads 'null'.

All help gratefully received unless it involves some alternative OS :)

I can't get into the members only section - it is not even listed under forums?
