Hi can anyone help?

The drivers window on my 2000 G500 has stopped working. My local MB specialist has found the motor to be faulty.

MB has quoted nearly £500 for a new part, the motor works when powered but fails when there is any resistance.

Can they be repaired or any ideas where I could find a replacement, is it off another vehicle.

I have the part but cant make out the part number on the sticker it starts 46072**846

Many thanks

Jonathan

Part number is A460 720 08 46 but it wont really help you, you need the Bosch number off the motor itself to try and cross refer to another model / make....

I remember reading a thread on here about there being a gear that wears and somebody having them re machined (maybe Roly) just cant remember if that was in the motor or the mechanism

As Gavin has stated, you do need the motor number in order to source the motor part only provided, the gearing mechanisum in good order for a motor to be replaced.

A chassis number is needed to be accurate as the window regulator does change on the G500 variants.

Since the motor slows down with resistance I would imagine the motor is gunged up or its electrical connections poor. Could it be restored by an auto electrician in your locality who repairs starter motors and alternators?

Many thanks all.

The Bosch part number is FPE 12v 0 130 821 070

I will try to get it repaired before getting a replacement. Will keep you posted.

Hi Fred I'm very well thanks.

Just ordered a new replacement from onlinecarparts.co.uk £160 a Berlin based company, I found it by searching with the Bosch part number.

Have you still got your green 500 spotted it on autotrader looking great. Not been "active" on gwoa but always try and read the forum. Always hoping to get to a meeting but obviously never make it.

Been G less since selling the 55 to Marty and "Ruby" to Huss.  Been getting updates on Facebook with Huseyins recent upgrades.

Have been busy with home renovations that's why I've been without a G for a few years. Been enjoying buying old low mileage cars for little money!Currently have a 2002 Subaru Outback and a 2001 3.0 Audi A4 Quattro Avant on the drive.

Ended up buying an old friend a few months ago so been enjoying a V8 again. I bought a G500 from my father in law in Jersey. It was my Dads in 2004/07 when he sold it to my father in law. I'm about to buy a new house so I'm afrade it will have to go again. It's not uk registered yet will be advertising it for £25 k but open to offers. 2000 LWB G500 RHD. Azurite Blue, Black Leather, Multi Function Wheel, rear seats,  parking sensors, 89,000. Probably shouldn't be "advertising" it here will place a proper add in the right place

Regards

Jonathan
