Hi every body,

recently, i had to replace my rear door because corrosion had the best of it but i did not re-install my spare tire assembly ; also, i know very well that i will never need my spare tire since i am only driving in the city and the towing is never far away. My main concern is that my door is very noisy and i recognize some of the noises that were there when my spare tire was present, do you have any idea what it could be and some solutions ?

Thank you

Re: Noisy rear door

Never need your spare??   What would you rather - £150 to be towed, or 20mins changing a wheel?
However, I am tempting fate, but never had a flat tyre in 20years of my G230.  Semperit tyres, almost 100% road use only, whereas on my cars, I have probably had 8 punctures in 5 years, which is unlucky enough.

As for the noises - I assume you mean squeaking from the hinges as you are driving - use some grease and/or make the door fit more snugly.  There will always be some movement though.  You might also have cables flopping about in the door sleeve - you can remove that and check easily.

You did put bungs in the door skin where the spare wheel frame bolts on?

Re: Noisy rear door

Hi
there is an alignment fitting in the hinge upright of the door frame above the top hinge which is position adjustable  (with a spanner) so that  when the door is shut fits into a firmly into a nylon lined receptacle in the body frame ..( close to the rear interior light switch)   this is to stop the top of the door "panting" under certain conditions... if not set up right you get groans and clicks plus the odd rsttle ...

Re: Noisy rear door

you could carry a couple of cans of tyre foam if you are worried about having a flat, one won't be enough
