For some mistery reason my g will not start, all of a sudden there is no power to the fuel pump, i put a battery connection direct to the fuel pump and it ran fine, i just need to find out whats causing it not to run!!

Maybe a relay?

Where would i get a diagram of the relay set up?

First check fuses, but most likely relay realated problem.

Hi

I am sure you can bridge terminal 30 and 87 with the Fuel Pump Relay removed.

If it starts and runs OK then Fuel Pump Relay is shot.

Only other thing i can think to check easy is the fuse in the top of OVP (Overload Protection Relay) in the main fuse board.

The relay is usually silver and has a flip top plastic lid with a fuse under it, 10amp i think.

Hope this helps

Gav

Yep, I agree with Gav most likely relay, common fault on 460's. If it is the relay take the cover of and you will most likely find there is a dry joint. Give it a good clean and it should be fine.

It has been  suggested one of the reasons for the relay failing is if the fuel filter has not been changed for a long time, the restricted flow will create back pressure putting additional strain on the pump,  which in turn heats up the relay.

hi
if you can hear the pump droning with the engine at idle good chance that the filter is contaminated..

Re: No power to fuel pump

The pump relay on the 463 does pack up depending on the mileage. Mine went at 150,000 miles.

The relay is located behind the main fuseboard. There are two screws on each side of the board at the top edge which allow it to drop forward and give you access to the relays behind.

If you have a leak from the wiper spindles or windscreen seal then water can drip down onto the back of the fuseboard and the relays which can cause a few electrical headaches.
