New member with many questions
Hi all. Greeting from the Netherlands. I'm currently restoring a W460 230GE - engine was not good so I've found a very nice power plant from a 280GE. If anyone has access to any English-language manuals or literature on the job, I'd appreaciate. It's hard to come by on this side of the channel.
Andrew
Andrew,
Hi and Welcome. Sorry I can't help with the manuals, however you can try James Laffertry at G Wagen in Caversham, UK. Be warned he is not that fast at getting back to you once you ahve left a message!
Spider1V
if you can obtain a Haynes manual for a w123 series Mercedes it ought to cover the 280 engine
welcome

Welcome !!
Are you sure about this ? Do you have a special reason to use the old sports car petrol 6 cylinder other than availability/cheapness of lump ? Do you have 'oldtimer' registration in NL ,otherwise you will suffer on road tax. There are many very competant G engineers in NL ,they use the 2.5 20v OM605 to replace the petrol engines ,quite easy to find ,best to buy complete car and use engine + box assembly ,that way you can test drive it before swap. Also this makes a first class vehicle with better performance and economy than the 280 will give you
Hello Andrew,
As promised, your list of sources for workshop manuals.
Please beware of scammers, especially on the on-line down loads. From the sources I am providing, I have to say that I have not used some of these and can not say what service you will get.
Please give us feed back on your experience. There are also sources of other web-sites that give information on servicing and maintenance, so I have included these as reference as well.

Cheers,
I would not replace the 230 with a 280, I've had both and the 230 was a much smoother engine...I liked the 280 but given a choice the 230 is better I think
