new to forum
We've just bought a 1987 G wagon 300GD, our first G wagon, and first time posting on a forum too! Could
anyone please direct us to where we can find a copy of a workshop manual?
many thanks!! and hello to everyone.
Claire
Hi Claire,
welcome to this great forum; I joined last year and have had enormous help from others here - I am sure you will too.
If you know the VIN of your G, worth putting in your signature as it helps people to very quickly identify specific parts and answer questions. One of the professionals here with access to MB systems will probably also be able to provide you with a datacard summary showing what your individual vehicle originally came fitted with (interesting to see what has often been changed in the years since).
See you around :-)
Ben
Hi Claire
And welcome from Yorkshire
I can help with the above build info if required with a chassis number
Workshop manuals come up on ebay from time to time but somebody on here may have a spare

Claire,
Hello and welcome to the GWOA. As other members have posted, if you can put up your VIN number it will of course help as you begin to enjoy G Ownership.
Would be interested in why you chose a G and any history you may already know? If its a RHD, I am sure someone here will know of it. Was it a private sale or Garage and of course if you can post pictures that would be great. Also are you planning to take it off road?
Once again, welcome to the club and wishing you many years of fun driving!

Welcome Claire,
I'll be brief, had spent some time drafting a warmer welcome but lost it all - my lap top's key pad is dodgy.
Looking after your G. As a new owner to the G, have the prop. shafts greased and do this every 12,000 miles. The grease nipples on the shafts are particular to Mercedes Benz, these can be replaced by conventional ones. If you have been Fording (driving through water), grease the shafts shortly after.
What part of the Country are you at? Glad you signed up, I have tried to encourage members to post their chassis details as signatures, exactly to help identify parts on any such quires. It seems more members are beginning to do so as you have signed on. Well done for that.
Enjoy,
Ps, I have no G-Wagen, hence I do not sign off with my details.
Hi,
Thanks for all the advice and welcomes, I'll put the vin on the signature, and some photos too.
To give some background info; my husband had a Lada Niva Hussar 4wd when we met, and we had some fun off roading in that. Since then the family has grown, and after my husband introduced me to the G (he's always wanted one) I loved it and we set about saving and looking. We bought it a few months ago, private sale, RHD, manual, deisel, 5 door.
We want to do some green laning, but need to find out more about where though now, (it was 10 years ago we last did any). We live in the Midlands, North Warwickshire, but like escape to Wales, Derbyshire, Forest of Dean as often as possible.
We are both keen to learn (within our limits!!) how to do general maintenance and look after our G for years to come; and thought this seemed the best place to start.
So many thanks again, and sorry if I fail to answer or acknowledge anyone, but we're both completely new to using a forum, it's taken me half an hour to write this, and I'm not even sure where this will appear!
now off to get photo's on and the signature - might take some time....
