my New Year accident today..
what a way to start off the new year.
i hope this is not the way things are going to be for the whole year :(
i was just coming off a turn (maybe doing 20-30kmh) when the car ahead of me suddenly stopped without any sign (his brake light never went on)
turned out his 5-6 yo son was sitting on the passenger seat playing with the gear lever stick, and pushed it to P
the G just came back from the body shop last week, had the new side mirror painted & installed, and the old signs removed, holes welded & painted
i didn't have anything to do this morning, so i scrubbed the windshield with glass compound and put on a layer of aquapel
hood wasn't shining, so i went to work a little bit on that too

after the accident
it didn't look too bad on the pics, but
grill needs to be replaced
i hope the bumper can be straightened out & repainted, not too sure about that
the ring on which the right headlight sits on broke
headlight bezel needs to be repainted
hood won't open, maybe the release cable snapped
AC not blowing any cold air, peeked behind the grill and found out a few things got pushed inwards
pipes, maybe even the evaporator. aux fan dead
the front grill/rad frame i think also got pushed

I am sorry to hear about your predicament.
S***t happens at the least expected moment.
I hope that it looks worse than it really is. But make sure that they measure the frame to check that it has not been affected by the shock (the bumper is attached to the chassis rails).
I am not telling you what I did to my G-Wagen the other day. Well, not until I get it fixed. And I don't want to hijack your thread either.

dont think i shall clean mine just yet then, thanks for sharing
came back from the body repair shop with a happy result :)
the only parts i will need to buy are the front grill (sourced one for not too much money), the electric fan, and horns
i can use the headlight ring from my old ones
AC was fine, no fluid loss anywhere
the rest can be straightened out and repainted
hood wont open because the radiator frame were bent inwards, nothing else
now i just need somebody to lend me a car for a week and a half :(

going to the body shop tomorrow to open the hood, and try to make an inventory list of what needs to be fixed/replaced.
