I ought to know the answer to this, but can anyone tell me please whether the sideways-facing jumpseats for the LWB 460/461 series will fit into a LWB 463 from model year 1999? best wishes Jeremy

Re: LWB jumpseats

They can be made to fit but 460 jump seats are actually longer than those for a 463 and have different mounting points.

The main rear bench seat on the 463 is located further back than on a 460 and therefore requires a shorter jump seat to fit behind it in the remaining boot space.

If you place a 460 jump seat next to one for a 463 you will be able to see the difference right away.

Re: LWB jumpseats

Hello Jeremy,

My sincere appologises to you, and Thank you to bigblock for his input.  Actually, thinking of it now, the back of the rear seat of W463's rake back further than the W460 so a difference in length of the seat makes sense.

I have fitted rear bench  seats to both chassis, but was none the wiser to difference in mounting  points in my experience of fitting these.  I am sorry, for apparently being wrong and hope very much you have not suffered by my answer.  Thank you bigblock for that correction.

Cheers,

Many thanks. That is very helpful. Did you do your own making the 460 seats fit the 463, or did you get someone to do it for you? If so who please?

Not a problem at all. This is certainly not something we're doing in a hurry (if indeed we're going to do it at all).

Re: LWB jumpseats

Hello JPS1,

If you have referred that question to me, then the seats I had fitted were for the appropriate models'.

The W460 seats are basic frame and seats bolted onto the frame, but the W463 seats have an additional cover to the rear or the back seat.  Individually, the mountings and seat look alike but I have never compared them each side by side, hence did not notice the mounts are different as I think, it was BigBlock who pointed this out and mentioned the seat lengths are different too.

These seats do not come cheap, occasionally they do come on ebay for sale; it is a matter to keep an eye open for them.  Alternatively, there are, those out there who will make you a set much cheaper as they specialise these fitment to Land Rovers but the visual finished quality is obviously tacky.  This finish can be improved if you get a professional upholsterer to do the coverings and then give this to the seat fabricator to assemble it.

These seat makers can be found in Land Rover Magazines, if you have trouble let me know.

Cheers,

One consideration you may like to think of: if the rear jump seats are for a LWB and you drive in and around London, having them fitted means you can claim you have a 9 seater (make sure you have belts) and you can get a congestion charge free car. (Though it does cost £10 per year for administration)
