Hello , I have just bought my first car, and I am lucky to say its a 1989 460 230ge . After seeing my first 'G' when I was 16 , I have been in love every since , I am now 18. The car is currently in the delivery stage and should be with me on Wednesday.  The prevoius owner still has the page on Ebay so you can all take a look if you please. I would like your opinion on her as i bought her for £9,000.

I feel in love when i saw her , and although i am a amateur  in the 'G' world , my knowledge is growing slowly. I was slighty wary because she is a Japanese import and the 'suggested' milage is ridiculous ?!!?! , However i have seen some Japanese editions in superb condition with very low milage.

See both links below:

Tell me what you think

Cheers

i have looked at this one a few times....on the ebay that is....

i have owned all versions of 460's.i must agree with fred, the 230 GES is the best all rounder.

it looks super clean. please report back to us when you get it. more pics of the engine bay etc would be grand.does it have AC?

japanese imports are almost always squeeky clean. my only thoughts are the drivers recaro being rear upholstered on the side thigh bolsters. 27000 miles should not have required this attention. maybe its 127000..??

yes will definatly post more pictures when she arrives . Hopefully that will be soon as the DVLA are being painfully slow with the documents. Very suprised you noticed the seat from those photos ! .. it took me ages and that was after somone told me.  I agree is quite odd for a G that had supposidly only done 27,000 miles . I was wondering if the seats are not very durable ? but then i have only seen torn driver seats on G's that have done 100,000 miles plus.

I am very glad to hear that the 230 ge was a good choice too!

Well done Alex.

The 230GE is a great vehicle.  Ask me how I know!

(this is about 2800km from the nearest coastline)

If you have the chance before you part with the cash check that the odometer is working. It may clock on a couple of miles and then stop.It took me a couple of weeks to spot the problem on mine (11 years ago) so I have no idea how many miles it had done or how many miles I have added.

Might be a haggling point - but looks a good car with all the toys you could get in the 1980's on a 460 G

really appreciate that advice because that is something i would have missed defiantly. The previous owner is driving her from Barnstaple to Bristol to deliver her, i will check the odometer for sure.

Re: JUST PURCHASED MY FIRST CAR AND ITS A G!!

Thanks all appreciate the comments .. the South West meets are something i am serious about as it would be great to meet more G wagon owners as there seems to be so few around on the roads! . Still unsure whether i will change/ upgrade any of the parts to the newer 463 facelift , as i do want to keep the classic look of the 460. However, I will be wrapping her in a gloss black though , as i want to keep the original paint work in the best condition i can.

Why would put a condom over that beauty just to protect the paint?
